Ugandan singer Sheebah Karungi voiced her frustration with UMEME, Uganda’s main electricity distribution company, over an extended power outage at her home in Munyonyo.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) early Wednesday morning, the former Team No Sleep artist criticized UMEME for its poor service, revealing she had been without electricity for three days. She lamented the inconvenience of having to charge her devices at nearby shops despite residing in one of Uganda’s most upscale neighborhoods.
Unable to comprehend the prolonged outage, Sheebah threatened to visit UMEME’s offices in person if the issue wasn’t addressed. Her tweet quickly gained traction, with fans rallying behind her complaint.
"WABULA UMEME TEMUNTAMYA WANGE. I’ve been home for 3 fkng days… and I don’t have electricity!!! It’s 2024, and I’m charging my phones at my neighbor’s kadduka… me! In Munyonyo… what do you mean!?" she wrote.
Expressing further frustration, she added, "Unless you want to give me a job! I’ve contacted you for days with no response! Come on!!!"
Her remarks add to growing concerns about UMEME’s service reliability, as more Ugandans voice their dissatisfaction with persistent blackouts.
