Veteran musician Eddy Yawe has offered advice to fellow artists aspiring to enter politics, urging them to develop strong communication skills and the ability to address key national issues.

In a recent interview, Yawe emphasized that simply holding a Uganda Advanced Level certificate isn’t enough to make a meaningful impact in politics, particularly ahead of the 2026 general elections.

He cautioned that artists must stay informed on both local and international affairs to avoid being caught off guard during media interviews.

“It’s not just about presenting an S.6 certificate and the required paperwork to qualify for a political office—no, no, no,” Yawe said. “You need to be articulate and capable of addressing issues that truly matter and that show you’re fit for the role you’re seeking.”

Sharing his thoughts on the increasing number of entertainers and public figures entering politics, Yawe also confirmed his own political intentions, stating he will be contesting in the upcoming 2026 elections.
