Media personality Kasuku has confirmed he’ll step into the ring against DJ Nimrod—provided they secure a well-funded sponsor.

While hosting Nimrod on his YouTube show Kasuku Live, Kasuku (Daniel Isaac Katende) reminded the deejay of earlier hints about a possible showdown between them. Nimrod asked if Kasuku was prepared to accept the challenge, to which Kasuku replied that he would—so long as the purse was sufficient1.

With a laugh, Nimrod warned viewers there’d be no new Kasuku Live episodes for two weeks after the fight, promising to deal serious damage in the ring. Both agreed on a Shs 100 million prize for each participant1.

This won’t be Uganda’s first celebrity boxing event. In December 2024, singers Rickman Manrick and Grenade Official—both former partners of media personality Sheilah Gashumba—clashed in a highly publicized bout that Manrick won on December 26, 2024.

Looking ahead, Manrick is slated to face Shakib Lutaaya—who last year stopped media personality JK Kazoora in their bout. At the press conference unveiling the upcoming fight, Shakib declared, “Rickman won’t survive past round three. But if he somehow does, it’s lights out by round five”.

The Manrick vs. Lutaaya match is scheduled for August 30, 2025, at MTN Arena Lugogo in Kampala.
