Fast-rising Ugandan singer Joshua Baraka has offered fellow artists aiming for international markets this piece of advice: be prepared to invest in your dreams.
Now one of Uganda’s most-discussed acts abroad, Baraka underscored the importance of leaving comfort zones and actively pursuing strategic collaborations.
“I dedicate significant effort and resources,” Baraka explained. “If you want connections—in Kenya, for example—I’m going there next week, but you must cover whatever comes next.”
His view echoes that of other top Ugandan talents—like Eddy Kenzo—who stress that valuable connections aren’t handed out freely but earned through initiative and commitment.
Yet Baraka made clear he’s willing to open doors. “Once everything else is in place, I won’t hesitate to introduce an artist to my network,” he added, highlighting that the real challenge lies in taking that first financial and professional leap
