Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reaffirmed his desire to retain club captain Bruno Fernandes, emphasizing his importance to the team’s future.
Speaking to the media today, Amorim described Fernandes as “really important” for their long-term goals, amid growing transfer speculation surrounding the Portuguese midfielder.
Fernandes was a standout performer in an otherwise disappointing campaign for United, who finished 15th in the Premier League and missed out on Champions League qualification following a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in their final game.
His future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have expressed willingness to pay £100 million to secure his signature—should he decide to move on.
However, Amorim remains committed to keeping Fernandes, stating: “He’s really important for us and really important for what we want to build with this team.”
He further praised Fernandes' leadership, adding: “In the last game, without pressure, the team performed quite well. Everyone wanted the ball, and in different moments, Bruno takes responsibility.”
