Ugandan singer and veteran media personality, Tendo Sserunjoji, popularly known as Lady Titie Tabel, has revealed how she unknowingly became part of a radio scam during her time on air.

A former member of Kaads Band, Lady Titie had a successful radio career in the 2000s, particularly with her Kalasamayanzi program on CBS FM. The show became widely known for its emotional letter segment, where she read heartfelt messages from listeners.

Initially, the letters featured real-life struggles, including family hardships, witchcraft, domestic violence, and illness. However, as she recently disclosed, the program was eventually infiltrated by fake witch doctors who saw an opportunity to promote their services.

“At first, the letters were genuine. I received so many from listeners, but over time, the witch doctors outsmarted me. They saw an opportunity and took advantage of it,” she admitted.

She explained that the witch doctors began writing the letters themselves, paying her large sums of money to read them on air. As a result, she gradually sidelined authentic letters in favor of the paid ones.

“I was being paid Shs 1 million per letter—Shs 5 million a week. I did all this without the management knowing,” she confessed.

Now a born-again Christian, Lady Titie has distanced herself from the practice, reflecting on how she was drawn into the scheme and how it ultimately shaped her journey toward faith.

Finding Faith

Titie revealed that she was compelled to abandon the scheme when tragedy struck her family.

Her six-month-old baby developed an imperforate hymen, a condition that causes a complete blockage of the private parts.

Desperate for help, she turned to the same witch doctors she had been working with, but none could provide a solution.

It was then that a colleague directed her to a church in Mutundwe, where prayers were offered for her child. Miraculously, the condition was healed.

Since that life-changing moment, Titie decided to dedicate herself to Jesus and has remained a born-again Christian since 2008.
