Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly informed Alejandro Garnacho that he should seek a new club, according to The Athletic.
Sources indicate that Garnacho is not included in Amorim’s plans for the 2024/2026 campaign. The 20-year-old has had a productive season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 58 appearances for United. However, he was left on the bench during the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
Following the match, Garnacho’s brother and agent, Roberto Garnacho, took to social media to express frustration over Amorim’s decision.
“Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus. Wowe hahahahahaha,” Roberto Garnacho wrote on Instagram.
Garnacho himself voiced disappointment after the final whistle in Bilbao, questioning his limited playing time.
“I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes. I don’t know. I will try to enjoy the summer and then see what happens,” he was quoted as saying by AlbicelesteTalk.
Amorim later addressed the situation in his post-match press conference, responding to criticism over Garnacho’s exclusion from the starting lineup.
“It’s easy to say that now. Who missed the big opportunity in the first half in the semi-final? Garnacho. Football is like that,” Amorim told reporters.
