The UMA board, chaired by Sekalala, give a brief

The 31st Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF) will reflect global shifts in market dynamics, geopolitics, and climate concerns, as investors and financiers emphasize climate action, human rights, and transparency.

Under the theme “Sustainable Industrialization for Inclusive Growth, Employment, and Wealth Creation,” the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) aims to promote an equitable and resilient industrial sector.

Innovation, Growth & Market Expansion

UMA Board Chairman Aga Sekalala highlighted the sector’s 31 years of growth and innovation, emphasizing that success is no longer just about profits but about businesses embracing environmental and social responsibility.

The expanded 11-day fair, running October 2–12, 2025, at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo, will host 1,500 exhibitors from Uganda, China, India, Kenya, South Africa, Turkey, and the UAE, with a projected 300,000 visitors.

Spotlight on Agriculture Amid Economic Uncertainty

Eddie Senkumba, UMA Vice Chairman, noted that agriculture will be a major focus, showcasing green technologies and providing training for investors on modern farming methods.

Amid global economic instability, Ezra Muhumuza, UMA Executive Director, warned that reduced U.S. aid and government budget constraints are straining markets. However, he urged manufacturers to prioritize innovation and expand domestic trade to sustain growth.

The fair will provide a platform for manufacturers and agriculturalists to tackle issues like input quality and strengthen the value chain.
