The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) has announced that the automated Express Penalty System (EPS Auto) will remain suspended for one month, following growing public dissatisfaction.
The system was put on hold on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, after widespread complaints regarding its high fines and strict 30km/hour speed limit.
In a follow-up statement, Minister Edward Katumba Wamala confirmed that the suspension will last until July 12th, 2025, allowing time for regulatory adjustments.
Official Statement:
"In consideration of the gaps and public concerns mentioned above, the Ministry has found it necessary to immediately suspend the implementation of the #EPSAutoUg from June 12th, 2025, to July 12th, 2025, to enable the implementing agencies to address all regulatory issues."
