Vice President Alupo has once again secured her position as chairperson for the veteran Katakwi District.

James Otilem, the Katakwi District NRM registrar, confirmed her re-election after the withdrawal of other contenders, Private Charles Ikabat and Rtd Col. Basil Amodoi, shortly before the election.

This marks the third instance in which Alupo has been declared unopposed within the NRM party structure and the second time she has successfully retained her seat.

Additionally, four other members of the veterans’ committee were elected unopposed: Maj Joseph Ocar as Vice Chairperson, George William Ariko as General Secretary, Col (Rtd) Basil Amodoi as Treasurer, and Capt (Rtd) Justine Eilor as Publicity Secretary.

Alupo emphasized that the election process was conducted fairly and transparently, aligning with the NRM’s core values of democracy, nationalism, pan-Africanism, and socio-economic transformation.

She urged all delegates to uphold peace and unity, regardless of the election results, and to adhere to the NRM’s electoral guidelines.

In their statement regarding their withdrawal from the race, Amodoi stressed the importance of respecting the views of senior army officials, despite their initial intention to contest.

Meanwhile, John Robert Okiror from Toroma sub-county was elected as the new NRM Chairperson for Katakwi District, with Raymond Richard Odeke from Guyaguya sub-county serving as his deputy.
