Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard has urged Chelsea to secure Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap this year, as the young forward continues to attract interest from Manchester United as well.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising strikers in the English top flight since the start of the 2024-25 season, scoring 12 goals in 32 league appearances under Kieran McKenna’s management.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Howard emphasized Chelsea’s urgent need for a striker, while acknowledging that Manchester United still holds significant appeal for a player like Delap.

“Chelsea are desperate for a striker. The Manchester United pull is still there for a player like him,” Howard remarked. “Whether that feels different because he was a City player… I like the Blues’ young team. He joins a youthful squad, and there are goals to be had.”

Delap, who remains linked with Manchester United, is under contract until June 2029.
