Former Argentina coach Fernando Signorini has urged caution in handling Lamine Yamal’s development, warning against placing excessive pressure on the young talent.

His remarks came in response to comparisons being drawn between Yamal and legendary footballer Lionel Messi. Signorini emphasized that it is premature to gauge Yamal’s potential against Messi, who has spent years refining his craft and continues to excel.

During a recent Q&A session, Signorini stated via Flashscore, “We shouldn’t push him too hard. He has the world’s expectations on him. I don’t know how far he’ll go. I love watching him play. It’s a matter of taste. It’s perverse to compare them.”

Since Messi’s departure from Barcelona in 2021, the club has been searching for a standout talent, and Yamal has emerged as a promising prospect. At just 17 years old, he has already secured three domestic trophies with Barcelona in a single season, contributing to their triumphs in LaLiga, the Supercopa de España, and the Copa del Rey.
