Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, despite competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

According to ESPN, United informed Ipswich Town that they will activate Delap’s £30 million release clause if the 22-year-old forward confirms his desire to join Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer.

Delap has been impressive in his debut Premier League season, netting 12 goals for Ipswich Town, who were relegated this season.

Having made his professional debut with Manchester City in 2020, Delap has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton, and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, former Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor has publicly urged Delap not to sign for Man United during the summer transfer window.

The transfer battle for Delap underscores the strong demand for attacking talent ahead of the upcoming season.
